High-Speed Chase, Crash In Morris County Lands 2 In Custody: Update

Two men from Florida were jailed after crashing their vehicle and fleeing from police in Morris County Thursday, May 11, police said.

It all went around 8:40 a.m. as Montville Township Police Sgt. Blustein saw a black Chevy Blazer driving on Main Road in Towaco that was sought for a crash in Lincoln Park, Chief Andrew Caggiano said in a release.

The Blazer sped away on Main Road, passing by several other vehicles before crashing near the intersection of Valhalla and Main Road and landing on the lawn of a nearby home, police said.

The occupants of the Blazer ran from officers but were found following a search and taken into custody. identified as Marcus Parker, 39, and Keon Hampton, 24, both of Fort Lauderdale.

An ID card and credit cards stolen from a Wayne resident were also found in the vehicle, police said.

Marcus Parker, 39, and Keon Hampton, 24, both of Fort Lauderdale, were charged with eluding, resisting arrest, and receiving stolen property and taken to the Morris County Jail.

“I would like to thank all of our police officers and dispatcher who were involved in this investigation,” said Police Chief Andrew Caggiano. “They conducted themselves in a professional manner and successfully apprehended both suspects. A great team effort.”
